Kendati demikian, pemanfaatan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi secara umum juga terbatas dalam hal riset dasar. Riset dasar kebencanaan yang tersedia masih sangat minim sehingga aneka ancaman dari sumber-sumber bencana belum dikenali secara memadai.<\/p>\n<p>Pemetaan teknologi kebencanaan yang dibutuhkan berikut tingkat kesiapan teknologi kebencanaan yang tersedia menjadi penting sebagai dasar bagi analisis strategi pengembangan dan difusi teknologi kebencanaan.
